Why does the bark detector on my MiniFinder Rex not work?
The bark indicator on the MiniFinder Rex is designed to register when your dog is barking during a hunt. If it does not register barks correctly, or if it registers too many, there are a few things you can check.
All dogs bark differently. Some have high and sharp barks, others have deeper and more muted barks. How tightly the device sits on the collar and where it is positioned also affect the result. Because of this, the settings may need to be adjusted for each individual dog.
Adjust the sensitivity
Start by adjusting the sensitivity in the app. The bark indicator uses a scale from 1 to 9:
1 is least sensitive
5 is the standard setting
9 is most sensitive
If barks are not being registered, increase the sensitivity step by step. If the device registers barking when the dog is quiet, lower the sensitivity. Test in small steps until you find a level that suits your dog.
Clean the microphone openings
There are two small microphone holes on the MiniFinder Rex - one below the three LEDs on the bottom, and one above the "m" in the MiniFinder-logo on the devices right side. Dirt, dust, or moisture can affect performance. Use compressed air and carefully blow out the holes. You can also use a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the openings. Do not use sharp objects or water, as this may damage the microphones.
Check the position on the dog
Make sure the device is securely attached to the collar and has good contact against the dog’s neck. Try adjusting the position slightly if the registration is inconsistent. Small changes in placement can make a clear difference.
